Switchboard can offer support through the following means:
Our entire service is now web-based. In order to receive a response,
please email us at friend@gayinfo.org.im
You can still call the original help-line number (01624) 611600
where you will be greeted with an updated answering service which
lists forthcoming events. You may also leave your name and address
or email address if you wish to be added to the regular newsletter
mailings. Unfortunately support calls can no longer be returned
and if you need to talk to someone urgently you should call one
of the numbers listed on our National Agencies page.
Befriending is a "listening therapy" involving counselling
based skills. This does not involve analysis, or any form of interpreting
what you say. Befriending is not about giving sympathy: in fact,
it may be quite painful to take a long, hard look at yourself. It
cannot "magically" solve all your problems. It DOES give
you space for self-exploration. You will be given time to try to
solve your own problems, but you will not have to do it on your
own. Your volunteer should be understanding, open and honest. You
can speak over the phone, or meet a volunteer face to face. You
can have one session, or several, and a session can last for up
to two hours if that suits you and your volunteer.Safer Sex Information
For up to date information on what is and isn't safe, we can also
give you telephone numbers for more specialist help lines dealing
with HIV/AIDS. Alternatively, you can click here to view our Sexual
Health section.
Call us to find out what local gay and gay friendly events are coming
up, or check out the current events section.
